I have no words to express my feelings. Many many thanks. I salute from core of my heart to you & your team, for creating such a memorable music score. Keeping Madan ji's music alive. Especially the CD 2, its out of this "Music" world!

I am also thankful to you & Yash ji, for giving me opportunity to play in such a memorable movie.

Lastly, I appreciate the CD, from "Designing to Printing & till Presentation". After all it's Yash Raj Films production! I wish all YASH (success) to the film & music.

Musically Yours...

- Ulhas Bapat (Mumbai, India)

This is the only disc that I have been listening to since this week - over and over again until it completely seeped into my consciousness. I thought that I would write to you once I was ready to give you my feedback - so here goes:

In General: Your dedication and meticulous effort in recreating Madanji's music is very apparent - what else can one say after savouring the superb craftsmanship that is so evident throughout the album?

It was often said (and I wholeheartedly agree) that Lata Didi sounded her sweetest when she sang for Madanji. Nowhere is this more apparent than in Veer Zaara. That she could pull this one off at 75 with so much élan is testament to her enduring genius, and that you could elicit this from her is testament to the great bond that ties both of you. By the way, I must confide in you that I feel extremely proud that I have been proven right:

On the eve of her 70th birthday during a phone conversation with her from Vancouver, she had mentioned to me that she was tired ("Aadmi ke bhi kuchh limitations hote hain"), she had done enough, and she did not fit in with the trend. I remember my rejoinder very clearly: "Didi, how can Lata Mangeshkar ever say that? I am sure that you are unhappy because there is no one left to throw a musical challenge at you. Would you have said this if Madanji - or indeed any one of the Great Maestros - were to invite you to the studio? I am sure that you would be in your element once again." At 75, Didi is still ages ahead in her musical expression and rendition compared to all other artistes put together. The more challenging the melody is, the sweeter her rendition. After all - she is singing for her Madan-bhaiyya!

It is very clear to me that you have taken great pains in ensuring that the orchestration lives up to Madanji's expectations and his conception. Great work with the strings and especially the sitar - and its good to note that you have enlisted R. S. Mani as an arranger together with some top-notch musicians, in the CD design.

In Particular: While every song is a gem in its own right, I wish to single out four tracks:

1. Tere liye - for its melody, emotion, execution, and superb vocals by Didi. Gave us the goose-bumps! 2. Tum paas aa rahe ho - for its majestic melodic contours so typical of Madanji, for the Indian ness of its orchestral interludes, and the way that Jagjit Singhji's rich bass complements the soprano of a supple and sweet Didi. Is there any way that this track can be included in the film - even as background to end credits if not in the storyline? 3. Jaane kyon - A real Lata Mangeshkar stunner! Refreshing, expressive, arresting - what more can I say... 4. Aaya tere dar par - for its classical overtones and virtuoso rendering. Who else but Madan Mohan would attempt a composition that straddles two raags - that too, as diverse as Maru Bihag and Miyan Ki Malhar - not to mention several flashes of other raags. 5. Kyon Hawa - for a superb rendition by Sonu and its clever juxtaposition with Didi's alaaps and the beautiful orchestral arrangements.

A special mention should be made of the "Making Of..." CD - which is a real treat! Again, you are a great craftsman! Above all, your love and respect for good music, Madanji and Didi come through very loud and clear in this album. Now that you have started a music label, I hope that we will continue to hear more good music. In fact, should the time and opportunity present itself, may I suggest that you consider resurrecting Madanji's unutilised tunes for ghazals, and together with the poetry of outstanding modern writers such as Qateel Shifai, Bashir Badr, Ahmad Faraaz, Sudarshan Faakir and Gulzar, have these ghazals rendered by stalwarts such as Ghulam Ali, Jagjitji, Hariharan, Didi, Ashaji?

Thanks once again for such a delectable musical treat. I will treasure this always.

- Jay Jhaveri (UK)

We could see this as a son's majestic homage to his legendary father. Sanjeev Kohli recreates his father Madan Mohan's music with such feeling and depth that it makes you think this is what Madan Mohan would do if he were alive. Or we could see this stunning soundtrack as an ode to the nightingale, Lata Mangeshkar, who has made life melodiously meaningful for millions of Indians for nearly 60 years now.

Then again, Veer-Zaara is music that tells us how far Yash Chopra has come as a music-minded filmmaker. From the tunes of N Dutta in Dhool Ka Phool to Ravi in Waqt, Laxmikant-Pyarelal in Daag, Shiv-Hari in Silsila and Chandni and then Uttam Singh working wonders in his Dil To Pagal Hai... it has been a rich haul of melodies all lit up by the voice of Lata Mangeshkar.

Besides that unconquerable voice, the one constant factor in the music of Yash Chopra's cinema is the pursuit to transcend trends. The quaint majesty of Madan Mohan's tunes go straight into our hearts. In an era when music has been reduced to aural coitus, Veer-Zaara comes with a quality of sound that reminds us of how far film music has deviated from its original purpose.

This is what a complete film soundtrack is meant to be. And we cannot thank the A-1 team enough for bringing the staggering progression of film music back on the right track.

- Subhash K Jha (India)

The music of Yash Chopra's Veer-Zaara is like a return gift for all of Lata's fans as nine new melodies by Lataji is enough to give smiles on our faces on Lataji's birthday. Yash Chopra has given us all a reason to smile on Didi's platinum jubilee (75th) birthday by releasing the music of his film Veer-Zaara just ten days before her big day. What a unique gift given by a filmmaker to his favourite artiste or by a younger brother to his Lata didi.

Lataji's treasure of songs would be intact like the Taj Mahal, year after year and would inspire future aspirants to be one like her. Her songs are like lessons to be learnt and her life and achievements are like a record book to be kept close to heart. Though the music is different as per today's standards, it has the potential to touch the chords of one's heart. It's a thundering experience to hear the magic of the great music maestro Madan Mohan after so many years of his demise. The music of Veer-Zaara has proved that Madan Mohan's music still stands out like a silver lining in black clouds.

I wish Lataji a very happy birthday and expect lots of such return gifts from her throughout the coming year.

MELODY... MAGIC... BACK IN INDIAN FILM MUSIC...

Have your ever experienced simple words overwhelming you... Have you ever experienced pure melody touch your soul... Do you remember the last time any music haunted you... hearing which you felt so lucky to be alive in this world to be able to experience such music. Music so pure... that it soothes you every time you hear it. When was the last time you were fully engulfed with emotions, so much so that you felt proud to be connected with India in any small way... to be part of a country so rich in emotions, with such a glorious musical history. A country where each small thing is so unique... where Love is yet an integral part of every Life... where family is yet the most important thing in the world... where every child is loved unconditionally... and every parent yet referred to as GOD... sach, aisa des hai mera!

Reviving the magic of the legendary Madan Mohan'ji haunting music is almost the best thing to have happened to the music lovers of today's generation. What Yashji has done through this magic called VEER-ZAARA can't even be described in words. What Mr. Sanjeev Kohli has done by recreating the music of the late Madan Mohanji is the BEST GIFT any son could have given to his father. The 'Making of the Music of Veer-Zaara' is a milestone in the Indian music history... something which will be remembered for ages. It almost feels that Madanji has come down and hugged each and every one of us, personally.

Hear it to believe it... happenings like there really come once in a lifetime... This pure and classic music of Veer-Zaara is the best gift our generation could have got... lets embrace this music with open arms... If this isn't MAGIC, what is? If you haven't experienced it yet, what are you waiting for?

I sincerely hope that Veer-Zaara the film and this music is able to do what almost 50 years couldn't do for India & Pakistan. Love and friendship is the only religion. We are brothers, friends... lets together rise above the ordinary and lets give love and peace a chance. We're both worth it! Listening to this music almost feels as if this cross-border friendship is waiting for us too... as if singing to us both... "Main yahaan hoon yahaan..." and now it's our turn to go and find it... TOGETHER...

- Guru (Mumbai, India)

I recently purchased the CD of Veer-Zaara. I couldn't help myself giving you feedback for the first time. Music, Lyrics and Lataji's voice is absolutely amazing, breath-taking, emotional and very rich on its own. The music of VEER-ZAARA is just amazing. Its probably the best music ever recreated.. .

Really I wish the team all the best and hope that you continue to enthral us in the future with the same kind of enthusiasm and great music...

- Aditya (USA)

Really cannot even begin to describe the way I feel about this album. It's a great one for sure! I love the songs Yeh Hum Aa Gaye Hain Kahan, Lodi, Main Yahan Hoon, Tere Liye, infact they are all great. I suggest that everyone listen to the second CD first, the making of the music CD, because it makes you appreciate the music more, and it shows all the hard work it took.

At first I didn't want to get the CD but now I'm glad i did, besides the fact it has Shahrukh khans picture on it, hah. I love the original version of Yeh Hum Aa Gaye Hain Kaha. Thank you, Late Madan Mohan, Sanjeev Kohli, and Yash Chopra. Although i think Sanjeev Kohli is not being thanked enough for all his hard work. Thnx once again.

- Tanya (San Jose, California)

Actually, this was the music I was searching for. It is melodious, sweet and the songs have all the colours of life.

- Siddharth Gupta

The music of "VEER-ZAARA" is awesome and sensuous. It touches my heart. I love all the songs of the film. My favourite song is "Tere Liye" sung by Roop Kumar Rathod and my all-time favourite Lataji. It's a lovely track and composed nicely. "Main Yahaan Hoon" is also a nice song. The "Lodi" song is also good. The music of this film is very contemporary and I love it very much. I am now eagerly waiting for the release of the film.

- Sucharita Ghosh (Kolkata, India)

I'd say its DDLJ fever all over again. The music of VEER ZAARA is absolutely fantastic, Magical Melodies that even appeal to a generation that dont know much about Madan Mohan or his music. This album encouraged me to find out more of his music and listen to it.

Yash Chopra movies are really magical, and the most outstanding factor is the music of his movies. The melodies become a part of you and stay with you.. forever!

- lonu (Male, Maldives)

CONGRATULATIONS YASHJI. JUST HEARD VEER-ZAARA SONGS, SUPER JOB. VERY GLAD TO HEAR LATE MADANJI'S COMPOSITIONS. I AM A BIG FAN OF SHANKER-JAIKISHEN, MAY BE YOU CAN DO THE SAME. ALL THE BEST.

- Haroo Sudra (Washington, USA)

The music of Veer-Zaara takes time to grow on you. But it does grow on you and you find yourself lost in the midst of fantasy and dreams. I love it how I can escape reality with Yash Chopra's films to enjoy pure entertainment and be left with an empty void to fill with love. Yet, our journey to find true love takes a turn because of the busy life we lead and when we get a break, we find that it is too late to search for love, because we closed our eyes when love smiled upon us. So, in the end, I'm left with the lines "Do pal rukaa khvaabon kaa kaarvaan, aur phir chal diye tum kahaan hum kahaan."

- Jess

I am a 23-year-old doctor girl from Punjab. i bought the music cassette of VEER-ZAARA a week back & what can i say? It's simply mesmerising! i listen to this music daily... i don't know how many times. Sir, u have done a commendable job by presenting before this world the unheard tunes of madan mohan.& equally commendable is the fact that u still rely on the voice of lata mangeshkar. she still is far better than all other young singers around. her voice is simply 'akashvaani'. hoping that this film veer-zaara will be a very good film. wish u all the very best for its success. once again sir, the music of this film touches soul. thanks for providing us this means to forget about the rest of the world for sometime.

Recently i listened the audio of Veer Zaara and i couldn't believe myself that this realistic music is still around us. I am really impressed by its songs... Really Yash ji deserves the highest prize in the world for such a nice compilation... i have heard such kind of a music I think after a long long time.. may be for the first time.. I am personally thankfull to Yash ji that he brought a nice historic and a meaningful compilation to our new generation, which will really open our eyes against today's nasty and vulgar music albums. Sir i have a request, as i heard that this film is revolving round the Indo Pak love affair so i suggest you should premier it within Kashmir, this is a suggestion else at least you can send in a print to Kashmir as well, coz i don't want to watch it on a pirated disk... At least not this movie.

Wish u and you whole team, best of luck...

- Aamir Khan (Kashmir, India)

Well done Yashji Chopra and Aditya and the crew of Yash Raj Films for an awesome and brilliant work done throughout the years. Keep it up and all the best.

- Ahmed (Johannesburg, South Africa)

To say you love this music is a true understatement, it surpasses most of the music I have heard over the last decade.

I am relatively new to Indian Cinema but Yash Raj Films has always been a favourite of mine. I so love Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Shahrukh Khan is my absolute favourite actor ever.

The music is so complimentary to the visuals that are on your trailers. I love the whole ethos of the music. It is relaxing and yet it haunts me with the soft melodies. There is such a beautiful blend of harmonies and different sounds but all sounding very Indian. This is refreshing to see with all the western influences creeping into the music and films from Indian Cinema it is wonderful to feel the Indian cultures being maintained.

There is always a strong balance in the music that you do. It is an absolute delight and pleasure to add this album to my collection. Both the music and the film are going to be timeless classics.

- Julia (Surrey, England)

- Deven Mehta

- AQS

I would like to thank Yash Chopra for this movie. I've no words to tell about this music because it is fantastic. Finally i want to say to Yash Chopra, please remember what you told in Filmfare awards ceremony at 1995, with best film award for DDLJ, "TERE MERE JEEVAN AMRIT". I can't remember next 2 lines. Congrats to Yash & Aditya Chopra.

- Gihan Aryan (Sri Lanka)

Yashraj Films have always fascinated me. I'm a huge fan of SHAHRUKH KHAN, which increased my interest in the forthcoming magnum opus VEER-ZAARA. I'm really looking forward to it. ALL THE BEST TO THE ENTIRE TEAM OF VEER-ZAARA, MAY YOUR HARDWORK PAYS OFF.

- Arijit Dasgupta

Yashji is a perfectionist. He keeps in mind all generations before making his films. He knows that Lataji can still sing even at this age. His actors fit their personalities in the story if the film. I will always watch Yash films.

- Nirmal (Surrey, UK)

The music of Veer-Zaara is Lovely! Especially the main theme of it!

- Tushna (UK)

First of all a big thanks to Yash Chopra Uncle.... Yash Chopra movies mean full of love songs, romantic moments, parties, happiness etc., etc., also the songs it creates the magic in peoples heart. But this one is some thing very unique and an antique piece. I don't have any words to express about Veer Zaara songs. Music from the Great Madan Mohan sir, Sung by Lataji, Udit Narayanji, WOW! About the making, to be frank - man i felt what if i was there while you guys were recording in the studio. Kaash mein bhi waha hotha. Best of Luck and have a big success.

"Lehrathy Huyi Raahen, Kolen huye hau Baahen, Yeh Hum aageye hai kahaa !"

- Zaheer Hassan (Abu Dhabi, UAE)

Yash Raj Films, the name is enough. Good luck 4 veer Zaara.

- Ankit Patel (London, UK)

Nothing can surpass the grandeur and magnitude of YASH RAJ FILMS.

- Vishal (Delhi, India)

I am in love with the music of Veer-Zaara.

- Vijayendra (Vadodara, India)

Can i say this film is going to be big!!! But I'm making comments on the music and I have to say this is a lovely soundtrack. I never heard any tunes by Madan Mohan but I have heard about him. It's sad that he's not with us. Sanjeev Kohli's recreation is remarkable and if Madan Mohan was looking down today he will be proud of him. The best song is Yeh Hum Aa Gaye Hain Kahan. Incidentally you were going to title the film by this track but Veer-Zaara is a remarkable name. The music is brilliant. Yash Chopra Saab you must use Sanjeev Kohli again for one of your next films. Madan Mohan we miss you.

- Mirza Sobrany

I personally rate the music of Veer-Zaara 10 out of 10. The best tracks are "Yeh Hum Aa Gaye Hain Kahaan", "Tere Liye", "Main Yahan Hoon", and "Kyon Hawa". The other bonus songs are also excellent. Music has never sounded so fresh and memorable. ALL THE BEST for the film. I hope this will Crash Records in this Year. BEST OF LUCK Movie... BEST Regards From Me to Specially "SHAHRUKH PREITY " And all Otherz...

- Shahryar Memon (Pakistan)

I simply cannot explain the words for this music. Veer Zaara is a MASTER PIECE! Each song has great co-odination of music, and lyrics. It's very hard to choose a favorite, but 'Do Pal' brings tears to my eyes. Once again Yash Chopra has done it again! I cant wait for the film in November, and i am so happy that half the battle is won by fabulous music! I'm very happy that the Late Madansaab's music has been recreated. Music like these should still be in movies. And i am glad Yash Chopra achieved this. The lyrics by Javed Akthar are just superb, and the vocals of every singer including my fav Sonu Nigam, are simply fabulous!

I want to thank the whole Yash Raj Film team and whoever had the hands of creating this masterpiece! Hats off to the whole team of Veer-Zaara!
