On the occasion of MADANJI'S 36th death anniversary, a 3 minute Video presentation of "Aapke Pehloo Mein" (MERA SAAYA - 1966) in Madanji's voice, with introduction by Jagjit Singh
14 July 2011

MERA SAAYA (1966) had memorable songs like Tu Jahaan Jahan Chalega, Nainon Mein Badra chhaye, Jhumka Gira Re and Nainowali Ne Haye Mera Dil Loota

The only male song in the film was a sad one, and sung by Rafi Saab.

Madanji had composed the song finally with the antras in the way he wanted it sung. He did this scratch recording at home so that Rafi Saab could get familiar with the song before the rehearsal.

Two antras of the song can be heard in Madanji's voice.

For the arrangements, in keeping with the mood and the situation, Madanji was keen that this entire song sound very different from the other songs and thus used only violins throughout the song. No solo instrument piece was used at all.

Mera Saaya too, was nominated for the popular award for Best Music, but then at the last minute, was removed from the nomination list too. Madanji was disappointed once again!

Jagjit Singh, a great admirer of Madanji's work, expresses his views.
