Madanji had a musically marvelous year in 1964. He had 8 releases and each of the films had a memorable score. each very different from each other, with a variety of songs, many of which are still loved.
One of these was the Muslim social GAZAL titled appropriately for the genre Madanji was now recognized for. He teamed with Sahir Ludhainvi for the second time and they created some memorable nazms and ghazals for the film which starred Meena Kumari and Sunil Dutt. However, the black and white film did not do well as it was released at a time when color films had become popular. Some songs are still remembered till today.
Due to a misunderstanding between producers and Sahir Saab just before the film’s release, the poet insisted that his popular nazm, ‘Mere Mehboob Kahin Aur’ be removed from the film and it was not released even on records initially but was released many years later.
