By 1957, Madanji was being accepted as a talented composer.
However, it was ADALAT in 1958 that brought him much recognition as he created ghazals like never before. The 3 ghazals sung by Lataji in ADALAT became so popular that people wanted more such songs in films, especially from Madanji, and over the years this earned him the label of ‘Ghazal King’.
The Nargis and Pradeep Kumar starrer, though not a success, also had some duets and light songs and is indeed a connoisseurs’ score.
