MADANJI’s MELODY from VEER-ZAARA PLAYS AT WAGAH BORDER
3 April 2018

This video gives a glimpse of the recent happenings at the WAGAH BORDER, visited by many on both sides. It is heartening to note that yet another unused, possibly rejected melody made by Madanji in the early 60’s, is playing at the WAGAH border almost through the day. This tune was adapted to become an important song in VEER-ZAARA. Madanji lived a few of his childhood years in an area which is now across the border. He always wished to go and visit his old home, but political restrictions denied him this desire. He also wished his songs play on loud speakers but that rarely happened in his lifetime, one of them ‘Ab Tumhare Hawale Wattan Sathiyon’ does play now on Republic Day and Independence Day, but how ironic that almost 60 years later his lost tune now plays on loud speakers at the WAGAH BORDER daily!
